Why do you think a lot of older adults turn to crime and drugs?

Isn't it at some point in people's lives, practically no matter what they been through, they realize that doing crime and drugs is just trouble? Don't people get the idea of concentrating on important things, and trying to enjoy life, instead of being a hooligan? Why is it you see people, older adults who should know better, out in the streets acting all proud that they are "hood"? How can people be so backwards?
