Why do Hooligans behave the way that they do?

There seems to be more inclination towards violence amongst young men population. It seems to have something to do with hormones like the testosterone ( male sexual hormone ), although women are anything but excluded. On the other hand it can also be considered social phenomena. In times of crisis people sometimes get angered about the State and its institutions.
