Do you believe 2012 is coming soon because of recent earthquakes?

After the 8.9 earthquake that hit Japan, I'm starting to believe 2012 phenomenon may be real! O: I just passed that off as a myth; I hate 2012 fanatics and my teacher told me people also thought the world would end in 2000 but that didn't happen (I was young though so I don't have much recollection of 2000.) I told my step-father about the earthquake when he came home from work last night and he told me he read about how humans will move to a place outer space because the earth is breaking (or something like that.) What are you thoughts about this? Answers calling this bullshit, nonsense, hooligan talk, etc. are also welcome.
